IIFA 2019 – Alia Bhatt bags best actress for Raazi and Andhadhun was the toughest competitor of the night
AyushmaanKurana and Tabu starrer Andhadhun was the one who gave a tough fight for its competitors. It also bagged several awards including the critics’ best film, critic’s best actor, best background score, and many more in that row. 2019 B’town has given many champions trophy to AyushmaanKurana for his impeccable performances in both Andhadhun and Badhai ho. Badhai Ho also brought glories to the team by getting nominated in 6 categories. The milestone in Ranbir Kapoor’s acting career, Sanju brought laurels to him and the crew by getting nominated under seven categories. Ranveer Singh bagged the best actor award for Padmavat along with his close friend Ayushmann Kurana who bagged the same award for his performance in Andhadhun. Alia Bhatt won the Best Actor- Female for Raazi and while talking about the metal trophy she said that it felt surreal to hold the trophy. She also added that she was happy to get nominated along with the talented actors who were her inspiration to become an actress.
The National award winner and the heartthrob of the youngsters Vicky Kaushal bagged the best supporting actor –male for the film Sanju. Apart from these lists, IIFA – 2019 has also given special gold trophy for Ranbir Kapoor for Barfi, Deepika Padukone for Chennai Express, Pritam for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Rajkumar Hirani for 3 idiots and the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai also bagged a special award for the Best film in the last 20 years category.
Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone graced their presence with their excellent sense of fashion which made their co-stars go ‘aww’ at them. The award for Outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema was presented by none other than Madhuri Dixit and received by the extraordinary master of dance and choreography Saroj Khan. Madhuri Dixit also paid a huge tribute to the veteran choreographer by dancing some of his famous songs. Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed who is also known as Jagdeep, the master of comedy also received a special award for his phenomenal work on the silver screen.
